August Long-long-Weekend

Well we had a great vacation…so much so I forgot to take pictures.

I had intended on giving a picture blog from our trip up into Northern Alberta, but sadly my camera didn’t really leave it’s bag and my phone stayed in the truck turned off for much of the trip.  Yes, I went without technology for almost a week.  It helps when you have no service.

We left Tuesday July 31 after Dave got home from work and drove out to Gull Lake where we stayed the night.  Up somewhat early and on the road, I think it was 9:30 or 10am, for the rest of the drive.  We had a little bit of rain while we drove, which is kind of nice as it makes the drive cooler (which means less AC – I don’t like AC).  Stopped in Whitecourt for lunch and a play.

We arrived in Beaverlodge at 4:30pm and spent the evening with Grandma and Grandpa Stotz.  It was a good little visit.

My parents had come down from High Level, AB and we met up with them to stay in their new toy hauler.

The weekend then became about visiting family and having a great time.  Daxen enjoyed being able to run around, play in the sand and river and just be outside.
The weekend went by quickly and all too soon it was time to come home!

On the way home we were witness to a magnificent thunder storm.  It happened between Whitecourt and Fox Creek.  The best lightning strikes I can remember.  We luckily missed the other weather associated with the storm.
We also saw more animals on the highway between Valleyview and Whitecourt than I have ever seen, including two wolves.

We arrived home safely on Tuesday afternoon.

I have many different hats that I wear. Throughout my life I have been many different things: a small business owner, problem solver, mother, friend, sister, writer, designer, employee, manager, consultant, gamer, leader and many more buzz words that I can't think of. Many of these I still do, but some I have let go to focus more on the here and now. I like to share my experiences, ideas and funny things I run across. Ask me something and I will provide an honest and likely unfiltered opinion. I am still learning about life, myself, relationships, parenting and well everything else. I am not superwoman and don't really have my life together, but I manage and am willing to share my tips and learnings. Writing for me can be cathartic and sharing makes us not feel so alone in this crazy, mess of a world we currently inhabit.
