Our year has been extremely eventful and has also gone by extraordinarily fast.
This year Daxen turned two years old and had his first experience with ice cream cake.
We got our boat out on the water this year too, even though it was near the end of the season due to some required repairs we were able to go for a swim and a good ride. Daxen loved riding in the boat, but still not too sure about the life jacket so swimming in the deep water was a little overwhelming. He even fell asleep in the boat on the way back into shore.
Daxen also had his first experience with a jet tub and bubbles. It was a very full tub.
We spent some time up in Beaverlodge this summer around the August long weekend. It was wonderful weather and a great time. Even managed to go for a tube down the river. It was a hot day and the cool water felt great!

Another thing that we were able to complete this summer is the bathroom renovation…only took a year, but it turned out wonderfully and Dave did all, and I do mean all, the work himself and he is not excited to do the next one.
We had a few more firsts this fall with Daxen. One was the first actual trick or treat. Grandma Trites took him out and he was so proud of the little bag of candy he came home with.
Just this month we also had our first experience at the Children’s Hospital Emergency. I had dropped Daxen off as normal in the morning and didn’t even make it to work before a call came in that I needed to come and get him immediately because he needed stitches. The kids had been playing and Daxen tripped and smashed his face into a wooden bench (the bench is no longer around at the dayhome). He needed six stitches in his cheek in a similar spot to his father. He has been amazing with the changing of the bandage and not touching it so that it has healed wonderfully and the scar will be very minimal as time progresses.
We have been very busy this summer and fall. I have started a few new projects, blogging (here and a few other sites) as well as taking courses which I hope to use towards finally finishing my Bachelors degree. It only took ten years for me to figure out what I wanted to do. I will be applying to the Bachelors program in Communications hoping to focus on PR or digital communications over the next six or seven years (part time).
While things have been busy it keeps us out of trouble as well.
For Christmas we will be going to High Level to spend it with my parents. We will be making a stop over in Beaverlodge on our way back to see some of Dave’s relatives too. Those trips are always jam packed. I will try to keep more up-to-date with what we are doing and take more pictures in the New Year.
In the mean time – Enjoy your families and celebrate all of the amazing things that you have been able to experience.
Seasons Greetings & Happy New Year
